Unfortunately, top-seeded Serena Williams was ousted in the fourth round on Monday, July 1st, losing for the first time in 35 matches, which ended the longest winning streak in women’s tennis since 2000.
The defending champion fell 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 to 23rd-seeded Sabine Lisicki of Germany, saying afterward, “I didn’t do what I do best.”
Other winners yesterday included men’s top-seed Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, and Agnieszka Radwanska and Li Na on the women’s side.
